TJ Wright is Founder and President of Offset Strategic Services (OSS) in Huntsville. He is a retired Special Forces Officer, having served in the 82d Airborne Division, 7th Special Forces Group (ABN), and various Acquisition Organizations supporting Army and Joint Special Operations with deployments worldwide.
TJ earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) from the United States Military Academy, West Point, where he wrestled for four years. He was a NCAA Division 1 Championship Qualifier for Greco-Roman wrestling and a University World Team Member. TJ also earned his Master of Education (M. Ed) in Kinesiology from the University of Virginia.
TJ is active with several organizations that support the Veteran community in the Huntsville area.
He and his wife PeggyLee live in the Huntsville area and have two sons and two daughters.
Q: Where do you live?
We live right across the border. After serving across the country, this is where our family chose to put down roots. We live on a farm just north of Huntsville, where you can enjoy country living and still have a short commute to work.
Q: Where are you from and how did you get to the Redstone region?
I am a retired Army officer who commanded at Redstone Arsenal during my military career. Over time, what started as an assignment became home. After experiencing multiple duty stations across North Carolina, New York, Virginia, and elsewhere, Huntsville stood apart because of the people, quality of life, opportunity, and family environment. PeggyLee and I made the deliberate decision to retire here.
Q: If you raised/are raising kids in the Redstone region, please share about their education experience.
Education was one of the biggest reasons we stayed. Our children attended private school and later ASCTE, the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering, which is nationally recognized as one of the top STEM-focused public high schools in the country.
Today, our four children are pursuing outstanding paths of their own: one at the U.S. Naval Academy, two at Auburn University, and one at Calhoun. What says the most to me as a parent is this: our kids want to come back to Huntsville after graduation. That tells you everything about the community, opportunity, and quality of life here.

Q: What is an ideal weekend for you?
Fly fishing the Sipsey River or exploring Bankhead National Forest, boating on Smith Lake, or the beach on the Gulf Coast, grilling with family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors. One of the hidden strengths of Huntsville is that you can have a world-class technology and national security career while also having immediate access to lakes, mountains, trails, rivers, ocean and a genuinely family-centered lifestyle.
Q: What is one thing you would like Space Command personnel to know about the region?
I completely understand why people in Colorado Springs love where they live. It is a tremendous community. But I would encourage Space Command personnel to look beyond assumptions and really evaluate Huntsville objectively.
For our family, Huntsville has simply been the best overall place we have ever lived. That is why we stayed after military service, built our company here, raised our children here, and continue investing in this community today.
We are invested in the community, active in supporting others, and sincerely proud of this town which is why I am here today.
